Research
The Alan J Flisher Centre for Public Health houses many projects focused on obtaining evidence-based research to improve the provision of mental healthcare services in low- and middle-income countries.
Teaching
A key gap in current mental health professional training in Africa and globally is an orientation to public mental health. This means an orientation to the mental health needs of populations, and the policies, laws and services that are required to meet those needs. Read more about how the CPMH is adressing this gap with its capacity building efforts.

Advocacy
Through the development of capacity, research and consultancy, the Centre provides a key resource for advocacy for the inclusion of mental health on health and development policy agendas, both nationally, regionally in Africa and internationally. It also advocates actively for the human rights of people living with mental disorders; and provides evidence for cost-effective interventions that can be used for the development and delivery of services.
Seminar Series
The CPMH’s monthly seminar programme is an opportunity to share ongoing work and invite broader participation in the Centre. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the seminar moved online. You can access recording of the seminars on the CPMH YouTube channel.
