African Doctoral Academy

The African Doctoral Academy is based at Stellenbosch University and was launched in 2011 to promote doctoral study, and counter the effects of the graduate brain drain in Africa.  It was developed in close collaboration with a number of partner universities in other African countries, including Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Kenya.   Malawi and Nairobi.The academy aims to provide high-level training and support to current and prospective doctoral students, as well as providing accredited training to doctoral supervisors.  Each year, the ADA offers courses and workshops in theory, research methodology and scholarship. It also offers certificated courses to academic staff on supervision, the management of postgraduate studies and research management.
